Recipe for preparing the Highland Fling Cocktail

Today cocktail and stag parties have turned out to be very popular amongst the party lovers who throw such parties both at home and in restaurants. There are many different types and varieties of cocktails, but there are actually two separate classes namely the (i) spirit based and the (ii) non spirit based or non alcohol based cocktails.

All spirits are in fact those alcoholic beverages that have been fermented and distilled for separating the alcohol from the water. Usually spirits are made from common grains such as the barley, corn or rye. There are also some spirits which are produced from grapes. Brandy falls in this category.

Over the last few decades there has been a rapid rise and demand for serving cocktails without any alcohol. These types of cocktails can also be made by using all the different ingredients that are used to make the alcohol based cocktails, except of course, the alcohol. The non alcoholic cocktails are commonly served with ice in long glasses with a straw and other garnishing.

A popular cocktail is the Highland Fling Cocktail. The recipe for preparing the Highland Fling Cocktail is as below.

Required ingredients for the cocktail

Ice Cubes (Cracked) – 4 to 6 pieces

Angostura bitters – A simple dash

Scotch Whiskey – 2 Measures

Sweet Vermouth – 1 Measure

Cocktail Olives for decoration

The method for making Highland Fling Cocktail

1. In the first instance you should put the cracked ice cubes into a glass.

2. Next would be to dash some Angostura bitters over the ice and pour the whiskey and vermouth over the ice.

3. The third step would be to stir well the mixture so that it is mixed well and strain the contents into an empty glass that has been chilled. Next decorate with the cocktail olives and serve to your guests.
